Overseeing the operations of a business in the meat industry comes as second nature to Chad.  His family owned a meat processing and distribution plant, he has a degree in Animal Science from Tarleton State University, and with family experience already prepping him for a career in the meat processing world; he was a perfect fit.  “I was a semester away from graduation, my soon to be wife was from Hamilton and finishing up at Tarleton, so we wanted to stay in the area.  I had gone in for an interview…but the gentleman that set it up no longer worked there…I figured that opportunity was over…but Cody overhead me come in and sat and visited with me in his office.  I ended up getting an internship for my last semester of college and started work in May.  I’ve been there ever since.”

Chad is the keep everybody in line guy; lightheartedly chuckling he says, his duties include everything you would think a plant manager would be in charge of.  He schedules out production, makes sure the plant has all of the proper raw materials needed, checks for constant quality of the products and everything in between.

But don’t think this guy’s all braun and business; he’s a family man at heart.  “We don’t do much at home because it seems we’re always at a t-ball game or stock-show or something…on the weekends, I’m a professional chauffeur for kids.”  If he does get a break from busy kids’ schedules, you’ll still find him hanging out with his family.  “We spend a lot of time at the lake, we take the camper and spend as much time as we can.  We also hunt a lot in the winter.”

Ask him about a memorable moment in his life, and he will give you a year rather than a day.  “I started working for Pederson’s in May 2003, I married my wife June 14, 2003, and then in March of 2004, we had our first child.  That whole year was awesome.”

Chad has high hopes for Pederson’s.  “Where are we headed…Up!  I think we’ll have continued growth and as we do we’ll diversify more.  We started with pretty much just bacon and now look at what we have.”

A few Pederson’s fun facts about Chad:

Favorite flavor of Pederson’s bacon – “I like them all so it’s hard to narrow down.  If I had to pick it would be the Cherry…I really like that contrast of the sweet cherry smoke and the salty.”

Favorite non-bacon Pederson’s product – “Jalapeno cheese sausage.”

Who he’d share a plate of bacon with – “I don’t know…one of those famous cooking chefs so they could tell everybody about how good our bacon is.  Just pick one.”

Who he’d trade jobs with at Pederson’s for one day – “Anyone of the sales guys.  That’s the end I never get to see…like Hans, he’s in a store everyday visiting and hearing about what customers have to say.”

Favorite Pederson’s moment – “Starting up Bacon Bash.  Pederson’s has grown a lot and we are very blessed…I like the fact that we can give back.”
What he wants folks to know about Pederson’s – “We care.  We’re not just here making bacon and trying to make a profit…we put quality first.”
